Long Bio for Sleepycat related work:
Don has worked with Sleepycat since 1997,
focusing on the Java and C++ portions of Berkeley DB. Over one
score years ago, Don completed his B.A. at Northwestern and M.S. at Stanford
and began his technical career doing kernel work at Bell Laboratories.
His work with kernel overlays led him to understand linker and loader
technology. This led Don to several long consulting assignments
with Apollo, DEC, HP, OSF, Sequent, Teradyne, Cognex, Compass and other smaller
companies to develop compiler tools, linkers, loaders and kernel
software. He was a cofounder of the startup SourceCraft and was there
developing a Java-like language when Java itself came along. Since
then, Don has specialized in Java technology, and soon after, began
his current tenure with Sleepycat. Don currently works with Sleepycat
(now Oracle) customers that use BDB and desire better performance
and want to use best practices. He continues to consult with
many companies, all over the world, writing and designing software
in a variety of languages (C, C++, Java, Perl, Ruby, PHP) that
use BDB in high performance applications.
In his off hours he enjoys working as a professional trumpet player.
